Product description

Prof. Lab PETG Transparent Blue 1 kg – strong and translucent PETG filament

Prof. Lab PETG Trans. Blue is a universal PETG filament in a transparent blue color, intended for users who require a combination of high mechanical resistance, reasonable heat resistance and an attractive translucent appearance.

Thanks to the typical properties of PETG, it is suitable both for functional prototypes and technical parts and for aesthetic models, illuminated elements and electronics covers. The transparent blue color lets light through, making the filament ideal for LED projects, decorations and transparent containers.

Main advantages of PETG Prof. Lab Transparent Blue

  • Transparent blue color – beautiful translucent shade, ideal for lighting and design applications.
  • High toughness and durability – PETG is stronger and more durable than PLA, less brittle and suitable for functional parts.
  • Good heat resistance – compared to PLA it withstands higher ambient temperatures better (typically around 70–80 °C for PETG materials).
  • Minimal shrinkage and deformation – lower tendency to warp than ABS, suitable even for open printers.
  • Excellent layer adhesion – ensures strong, homogeneous prints.
  • Easy printing – without a strong odor, also suitable for users switching from PLA to a more durable material.

Recommended applications

Prof. Lab PETG Transparent Blue is great for:

  • functional prototypes and technical parts, brackets, mounts, covers
  • transparent and semi-transparent containers, reservoirs, packaging
  • LED illuminated objects, lamps, signal elements
  • protective covers for electronics, transparent lids
  • decorations, models, cosplay accessories where you want a translucent blue effect

When printing transparent parts it is advisable to choose a larger layer height and fewer perimeters, or a slower print, so that the print is optically as clear as possible.

Recommended printing parameters

Typical parameters for PETG filaments 1,75 mm / 1 kg:

  • Filament diameter: 1,75 mm
  • Nozzle temperature: approx. 230–250 °C (depending on printer and desired appearance)
  • Bed temperature: approx. 70–85 °C
  • Print speed: approximately 40–80 mm/s
  • Cooling: low to medium (for transparent parts rather lower for better layer bonding)

Specific values may vary depending on the printer used, hotend, cooling and model geometry – we recommend printing a small test object and fine-tuning the parameters.

Material properties of PETG (general)

  • Material: PETG (polyethylene terephthalate glycol)
  • Character: tough, durable, with excellent layer adhesion
  • Chemical resistance: good resistance to a number of common chemicals
  • Moisture resistance: lower absorption than e.g. nylon, but it is still advisable to store the filament in a dry place

The filament is wound on a spool with a net weight of 1 kg, vacuum-packed with desiccant for optimal storability.

Tips for storage and printing

  • Store in a dry place – ideally in a sealed box with desiccant.
  • If the filament has been left open for a longer time, dry it (e.g. approx. 60–65 °C for several hours) to eliminate cracking and bubbles.
  • For better bed adhesion use a PEI surface, glue stick, special adhesive or textured bed.
  • For taller models with a small contact area to the bed, consider using a brim or raft.
