Product description
Prof. Lab PETG black 3 kg
Prof. Lab PETG is a high-quality technical filament that combines the strength and heat resistance of ABS with the printing comfort of PLA. In its black variant it is ideal for functional prototypes, structural parts, enclosures, mounts and outdoor applications where long-term mechanical and chemical resistance is required. This variant contains 3 kg of material – ideal for users who print frequently, large models, or small series of parts and want to minimize spool changes.Main features
- PETG material – a compromise between PLA and ABS Easy printing, minimal warping, but at the same time high toughness and resistance.
- High strength and toughness Suitable for mechanically stressed parts, clips, brackets, covers, fastening elements.
- Resistance to moisture and chemicals PETG has very good resistance to water, most acids, bases, alcohols and oils – suitable for technical and industrial use.
- Stability at elevated temperature (approx. 70–80 °C) Compared to PLA it maintains its shape better in warmer environments (e.g. in a car, workshop, in the sun).
- Excellent layer adhesion Strong bonding between layers increases the strength of the finished print and reduces the risk of cracking.
- Accurate filament diameter Typical diameter tolerance is ±0,03 mm, which ensures stable material flow and predictable print results.
- 3 kg spools for long prints without spool change Ideal for large models, print farms or serial production.
Recommended applications
- functional and technical parts (brackets, covers, jigs, spare parts)
- mechanically stressed components
- parts exposed to moisture or weather conditions
- electronics enclosures, boxes, organizers
- small series production and prototyping
Recommended printing parameters
Specific settings may vary depending on the printer, cooling and part geometry, but the following have proven to be good starting values:- Nozzle temperature: 230–250 °C
- Bed temperature: 80–90 °C
- Print speed: 30–70 mm/s (40–60 mm/s recommended for a quality surface)
- Cooling: 0–70 % (often low to medium, full cooling rather only after the first few layers)
- Build surface: glass, PEI, textured sheet, it is advisable to use an adhesive aid (glue, spray, tape)
Moisture and storage
PETG is a moderately hygroscopic material – it absorbs moisture from the air, which can lead to bubbles in the print, a matte surface and reduced strength. Recommendations:- store in a resealable bag or box with silica gel
- if moisture absorption is suspected, dry (e.g. in a filament dryer or an oven with precise temperature control) at approx. 60–70 °C for 4–6 hours
Advantages of PETG over PLA and ABS
- Compared to PLA: higher heat resistance, better toughness, higher chemical and moisture resistance
- Compared to ABS: easier printing (less shrinkage, less prone to cracking), lower odor during printing
Package contents
- 1× filament spool Prof. Lab PETG black – 3 kg (diameter 1,75 mm)
- protective packaging (typically vacuum-packed with desiccant) to reduce moisture during storage
Key properties:
- Large 3 kg spool for long prints without frequent spool changes
- Durable PETG filament suitable for functional and technical parts
- Excellent chemical and moisture resistance – ideal for outdoor or industrial use
- Higher heat resistance than PLA (approx. up to 70–80 °C)
- Good interlayer adhesion and high toughness
- Easier to print than ABS – less warping and lower odor
- Universal 1,75 mm diameter compatible with most FDM/FFF printers
- Black color suitable for both design and technical parts
