Product description
Prof. Lab ASA Silver 1 kg
Prof. Lab ASA Silver is a high-quality filament made from ASA (acrylonitrile-styrene-acrylate) in silver color, suitable for demanding technical as well as design prints. ASA is often perceived as a more modern alternative to ABS – it maintains high strength and heat resistance, but offers better UV stability, higher resistance to weathering, and lower shrinkage during printing.(smart3d.cz)
Thanks to this, the filament is ideal for outdoor applications, electronic enclosures, parts for the automotive and engineering industries, garden elements, mounts, or functional prototypes that must withstand long-term exposure to sunlight, rain, and temperature fluctuations.
Main advantages of ASA Prof. Lab Silver
- High resistance to UV radiation and weathering – prints do not yellow or become brittle in the sun, suitable for permanent outdoor use.(smart3d.cz)
- Heat resistance of approx. up to 90 °C – handles higher temperatures better than PLA, suitable for parts in warmer environments (car, technical covers).(smart3d.cz)
- Lower shrinkage compared to ABS – lower risk of warping and cracking, reasonably printable even without a fully enclosed chamber (for smaller parts).(smart3d.cz)
- Excellent mechanical strength and toughness – suitable for stressed functional parts and structural components.(smart3d.cz)
- Good interlayer adhesion – increases the strength of prints and reduces the risk of delamination.(richvalsky.cz)
- Silver, technical appearance – ideal for prototypes, design models, covers, and elements where a metallic-looking surface is desired.
Recommended applications
- Outdoor parts and elements exposed to sun and rain
- Covers and boxes for electronics, sensors, and industrial applications
- Components for the automotive and engineering industries (mounts, brackets, covers)(richvalsky.cz)
- Functional prototypes and structural parts with higher mechanical stress
- Design models requiring a technical, silver appearance
Recommended printing parameters
The ideal specific settings may vary depending on the printer, but the following values are commonly used for ASA:(richvalsky.cz)
- Nozzle temperature: 235–260 °C
- Bed temperature: 80–110 °C
- Print speed: 30–80 mm/s
- Cooling: rather low (0–30 %) for better interlayer adhesion
- Chamber: an enclosed or partially covered printer is recommended for larger parts, but small and medium prints can be done on an open printer
- Build plate: glass, PEI, or another surface in combination with an adhesive (glue stick, 3DLac, Dimafix) to minimize warping
Material properties of ASA
- Thermoplastic copolymer ASA with very good chemical resistance and dimensional stability
- UV resistance – filament suitable for permanent outdoor use
- Lower shrinkage than ABS – easier printing of larger parts without deformation(smart3d.cz)
- Possibility of post-processing – sanding, drilling, gluing, and for selected ASA also vapor smoothing with acetone.(richvalsky.cz)
Compatibility
The filament is intended for FFF/FDM 3D printers with a nozzle diameter of 0,4 mm or larger and support for temperatures in the range of approx. 240–260 °C. It is suitable for most common printer brands (Prusa, Creality, Anycubic, Bambu Lab, Voron, etc.) that can handle printing technical materials at higher temperatures.
Packaging
The filament is wound on a standard spool with a net weight of 1 kg, vacuum-packed with a desiccant for protection against moisture (typical practice for ASA and technical filaments on the market).(smart3d.cz)
To maintain ideal properties, it is recommended to store the spool in a dry place, ideally in a closed box or drybox.
