Product description
Prof. Lab ASA Red 1 kg
Professional ASA filament Prof. Lab ASA Red in a rich red shade is designed for reliable printing of functional parts that must withstand sun, rain and higher temperatures in the long term. Thanks to the properties of the ASA material, it is suitable for both industrial and hobby use wherever common PLA is no longer sufficient.
Main advantages of ASA material
- High resistance to UV radiation – models do not yellow or fade, they are suitable for long-term outdoor use.
- Excellent weather resistance – the material handles temperature changes, humidity and rain without significant deformation.
- Thermal resistance around 90–100 °C – parts maintain their shape even in hot environments (e.g. in a car, near engines, etc.).
- High mechanical strength and toughness – suitable for functional mechanical components, brackets, covers and structural parts.
- Relatively low shrinkage compared to ABS – with correct printer settings, dimensionally accurate prints can be achieved.
Typical use
ASA is an ideal choice where a combination of strength, thermal resistance and sun stability is needed:
- outdoor covers, boxes and housings
- parts for the automotive and motorcycle hobby sector (holders, plugs, caps, handles)
- garden accessories, components for irrigation systems, handles and brackets
- functional technical components, fixtures, assembly aids
- sports and outdoor equipment, accessories for e-bikes or scooters
Recommended printing parameters
Specific settings may vary depending on the type of 3D printer and cooling, the values below serve as initial recommendations for ASA material:
- Nozzle temperature: 240–260 °C
- Bed temperature: 80–100 °C
- Enclosure: recommended (helps reduce warping for larger parts)
- Cooling: 0–30 % (rather lower, only for details and bridges)
- Print speed: approximately 40–80 mm/s depending on model complexity
For reliable first layer adhesion it is recommended to use a suitable adhesive (e.g. spray/stick glue, special adhesive for ASA/ABS or a textured bed). For larger models, it is advisable to use a brim or raft.
Printing and processing
- The filament is suitable for most common FDM/FFF printers with a 1.75 mm nozzle.
- To achieve the best results, store the spool in a dry place (sealable box, silica gel).
- The resulting ASA prints can be further mechanically processed – sanded, drilled, milled, glued with suitable adhesives and painted.
Visual properties
- Color version: Red – rich technical shade suitable for functional and design parts.
- The print surface is slightly matte to semi-glossy, masking small layers and imperfections well.
