Product description
Product description
Nylon PA12+CF15 Professional Lab is a top-class nylon filament with 15% carbon fibers, designed for demanding technical applications. It combines the low water absorption and chemical resistance of PA12 polyamide with the high stiffness and heat resistance of a carbon composite. The result is exceptionally strong, stiff, and lightweight parts with minimal warping and high dimensional stability during printing.
The filament is suitable for professional and industrial use – from functional prototypes and engineering components to end-use parts that must withstand long-term mechanical loads and elevated temperatures.
Main advantages and properties
- 15% carbon fibers (CF15) – significantly higher strength and stiffness compared to pure PA12
- High heat resistance – operating temperatures of parts up to approx. 150–160 °C depending on geometry and conditions
- Low water absorption – PA12 has the lowest water absorption among common polyamides, parts retain dimensions and properties better in humid environments
- Very low shrinkage and deformation – minimizes warping and cracking during printing, suitable even for larger parts
- High chemical resistance – resists oils, lubricants, and many chemicals, suitable for technical environments
- Matte, technical surface – elegant black carbon look, masks layers and minor imperfections
- Low density and high stiffness – ideal for lightweight constructions and metal part replacements
- Professional diameter accuracy – diameter 1,75 mm with tight tolerances for reliable printing
Warning: The filament is highly abrasive – always use a hardened steel / hardened or ruby nozzle, otherwise rapid wear of a brass nozzle will occur.
Recommended applications
- Engineering and functional parts – housings, brackets, jigs, flanges, covers, fasteners, and mounting elements
- Automotive and industry – components exposed to higher temperatures, oils, and vibrations
- Drones and RC models – lightweight, very stiff, and impact-resistant frame and bracket components
- Steel part replacements – where significant weight reduction is required while maintaining strength
- Jigs and tools – clamps, assembly jigs, measurement and production fixtures
- Parts for powder coating and elevated temperatures (depending on the specific thermal load)
Printing recommendations
Parameters may vary depending on the specific printer, but for PA12+CF15 these values are typically effective:
- Nozzle temperature: approx. 255–280 °C (depending on speed and cooling)
- Bed temperature: 90–110 °C (for some formulations 70–120 °C)
- Chamber: an enclosed chamber is beneficial, but not strictly required (depends on part size)
- Part cooling: 0–20% (rather low, only for small details)
- Recommended print speed: approx. 30–60 mm/s
- Build surface: PEI, glass, or another surface + suitable adhesive (Magigoo, adhesive spray, glue stick) for better adhesion
- Dry filament: drying before printing is recommended (approx. 80–90 °C / 4 h) to prevent bubbles and surface degradation
Hardware recommendations:
- nozzle: hardened steel / hardened / ruby, ⌀ ≥ 0,4 mm
- hotend: all-metal (without PTFE in the hot zone) due to higher printing temperatures
Key customer benefits
- Professional engineering material – suitable for real-world use, not just prototypes
- High stiffness and strength thanks to 15% carbon fibers
- Resistance to high temperatures (approx. 150–160 °C depending on application)
- Low water absorption and chemical resistance – stable parameters even in demanding environments
- Minimal deformation and shrinkage – better dimensional accuracy even for larger parts
- Matte carbon surface – technical appearance, suitable for final parts
